Graphite in top six

Graphite in top six   Graphite made the top six of Canada’s critical minerals list, even though Canada currently has only one active graphite mine; Lac des Iles, in Quebec, which is almost mined out and was recently sold off by Imerys for only ~ $50 mm. By 2020 it had been pared down to a modest operation employing only 50 workers and generating only ~$25mm/yr in revenue. The continued focus on graphite can only mean one thing; all eyes will be on Lac Gueret when the revised pea comes out next quarter.

“Out of a list of 31 critical minerals in Canada, the strategy prioritizes six for their economic growth potential and status as inputs for supply chains: lithium, graphite, nickel, cobalt, copper, and rare earth elements”.
