Predict the Date?

Well, we've got nothing else to do.  Do we have any totally uneducated buy out prediction dates?

I am convinced Cynthia and Roger are waiting for the price of Gold to sky rocket. Based off Rogers FB posts, they are expecting gold to reach new ATH's in 2023-2025. He even said it himself, why sell a company for 5 billion when you can sell it for 10 billion. Could be late in 2023 or whenever they believe Gold has peaked. Whenever the price is right bobby.

I disagree as the current price of gold or the short term price means nothing to a buyer. A potential buyer is more concerned about the price of gold over the next 10+ years.  I predict we are paid out(deal closed) by July.

But I imagine there are degrees to that. A 20% increase in price vs a 20% decrease in price will have a different outlook for the longer term future price of the asset. I cant see a large difference not having any affect.

I am of course a fan of gold and the direction it is going. Most conservative analysts I have read see gold only going up and above 2000 in the near future. Not sure it will hit 56,000$ per ounce I have also seen.... Time will tell

Hello all, I am definitely not one to make predictions but I believe that we will know the answer to this question on February 2nd. Punxsutawney Phil will emerge from his hole and if he sees his shadow if will be at least 6 weeks, if he does not see his shadow it will be less than 6 weeks. Punxsutawney Phil's record is better than anyone on this board so let's go with that. Stay long snd ...more

I have been trying to stay on the sidelines, but since you mentioned my name (thanks for saying I am smart!), I will provide the following comments: 1) As I have indicated before, I don't believe that the current spot price of gold is of any real significance. A buyer is going to evaluate based on an estimate of the long term, average future price. However, I do believe that the increased ...more

Matlas, Nice to have you back. I too have been on the sidelines but wanted to chime to support your thesis. Sorry for the long note below. Mark Bristow’s recent comments during a recent Bloomberg interview about activity he expects to see in the juniors in order to bring new ore bodies on stream to meet future supply targets seems promising for the junior sector. He clearly expects to see ...more

Team LME, To clarify, I think Mark Bristow is now positioning Barrick's stakeholders to accept some element of computer modeling in lieu of 43-101 type reports. This seems to me to be part of an effort to convince the Barrick board to approve acquisitions in the junior space to support their need for organic growth. Simply put, they need new mineral sources to meet future demand ...more

Thanks Timeand money for these two great posts. Focusing on second one, this just reinforces what I had posted months ago. Namely, Cynthia and the Board are not stupid, and I am sure that they are completely attuned to what potential acquirers would want and need. If the 43-101 was really as important as certain members of this group seemed to think it was, there is no reason why they could not ...more
