Tier II manipulation

Todays rant brought to you by a trader bored from watching nothing happen.
To me it looks like someone is obviously holding the price down for some reason. Someone at Virtu ITG Canada, Broker 014, has bought the price down almost everytime it rises. Over the past two days I noticed they have sold shares in small amounts of 500-1000 (500 minimum Board lot to set the price) to lower the Last Trade Price, 22 out of 27 times the price has dropped. The trades usually occuring with in seconds of a price increase. Their trades are hi-lighted in blue in the photo. After I took the pic they sold the price down again for the last trade of the day.
No great info today but I had to vent while I watch the LME paint dry. And wait for some fresh wet ink on a deal.

Agree, seems like it has been happening for a while. Regardless of volume, price may rise a bit, but then gets sold back down. Someone doesn't want it to rise. They also don't want it to tank. Just want to keep it right around where it is. But why? Is it about visuals/negotiations...harder to command $8/share or whatever for company trading in $0.30 - $0.40 range vs $2 - $3 range. Current ...more

I have been dumped on before when I suggested that someone wants to keep the price low. The question is, who and why? I cannot tell who, but as far as the why, the only thing I can think of would be in order to allow certain tax-motivated transaction that are not going through the exchange to be implemented with out much tax triggerred. However, that is just the tax accountant in me making a ...more

I have posited the idea before that they want a low stock price so more friends and family can keep scooping up shares but the 80% friends and family ownership hasn't  seemed to increase, does anyone know if there are any disclosures that need to/or do get filed to back up and validate the claim of 80% friends and family ownership? I am guessing maybe someone who got in at the low-mid ...more

I would think that a company interested in buying Lme, would be allow purchasing stock at 30 before making offer for rest of company. As long as they did not break any insider trading rules I can't see why they could not. Why would they pay 5-8 dollar when a significant amount of share are avail at 38 cent.

I don't think it could unfold that way in a situation like this. For one thing, this is a very thinly traded stock with a small float. They could not buy that much without bumping the price. More to the point, they are not going to want to buy any shares without being sure that they get all of them, which mean making a deal with Cynthia et al first.

An acquiror would get such a tiny amount of shares if they bid on them in the open market that on a deal this size it wouldn't be worth their time.  Plus you're right, if they started buying and then didn't stitch up a deal what would they do with the handful of shares they were able to get? LME is only trading on 12-15mm shares, the rest are in the pockets of small fries like us ...more

I think we are on the same page here LaurionLong. Did you or anyone else notice that the Stockhouse decription has now removed the wording that was recently added about "short term"? I am guessing that maybe the people who run Stockhouse thought it was maybe too agressive/promotional?? Presumably, not LME, since that still have that wording on HomePage.

Yes, I had noticed the change as well. I am curious as to the motivation behind switching back to the origional description. For those who want to reference here is the old wording, JDsocials had posted this when it was initially changed:  "LAURION MINERAL EXPLORATION INC. is a Canadian based exploration-discovery company, focused on a high grade gold and a precious metal rich project ...more
