For the company to add a staffer who would be responsible for maintaining an up-to-date data room indicates they are or have been approached to get acquired. Usually, the target company needs to maintain an up-to-date data room for other parties to access whilst in active discussions.

Talk about title inflation. In the old days, this was the boss`s secretary. By the `90s it had become administrative assistant and now it`s executive assistant. I suppose the pay has inflated along with the title.
