Blame the Liberals under Paul Martin who fouled the nest of regulations and bureaucracy so deep that Transport Canada didn't know which way was up.

If anything Ian was ahead of his time with ZENN, and unfortunately he tried to capitalize the business in the weak-knee Canadian Capital markets, where serious investors don't have staying power for longer than 3-6 months, if that. (Don't get me started...)

You want to blame this on Paul Martin.  What are you smoking.  ZENN grew out of Feel Good Cars, who hyped fuel cells and was run by a guy Lynnward Farr.  He had no money and less brains, but a good con man.  When the fuel cell didn't pam out the bought a piece of Eestor, evenually owning it.  You really think Harper would have enabled this hyped up golf cart, that had

Man are you confused. Feel good cars had nothing to do with fuel cells. Also I know this story inside and out and I've never heard of Farr and Marietta. And yes zenn could only sell their cars in the USA due to unfavorable Transport Canada rulings.

Martin Marietta's a company not a person. Besides, perhaps my memory is failing but I thought it was Lockheed. Certainly not a highway vehicle but calling it a glorified golf cart is like the late Rob Ford calling streetcars "trolleys".
