RE:Both coasts-hydrogenThe below came from a comment section, but I don't know who the poster was. Not only for pipelines, but hydrogen needs to be compressed to get it into ships, much like LNG:

Producing "green" hydrogen is only one small part of the equation. The hydrogen then needs to be compressed to get it into a pipeline to consumers. "Green" compression could be a major drawback as the compression facilities require massive amounts of electricity that isn't likely to come from renewables. The only solution may be burning some of the produced hydrogen to produce steam and using steam turbines to run the compressors. How much of the produced hydrogen would be required for this is up to the engineers to figure out but that too may be uneconomical.
