I agree US is facing headwinds, but not doom and gloom. Globally, recession is possible, however US will fair at the top, US Dollar strength simply becasue investors like it better than alternative currencies. Gold looks good, however, it is riding the coat tails of the trade wars, etc.. Could change in a flash.
