NATURALLY SPLENDID NPV (OTCMKTS:NSPDF) is a progressive Canadian hemp and biotech company with blue sky potential. Vancouver-based Naturally Splendid Enterprises (OTCMKTS:NSPDF) has developed a solid reputation as a purveyor of high-quality hemp and natural plant-based products. Until recently, the company has been thought of primarily as a play on the health and wellness markets.
With the loosening regulatory environment for marijuana and cannabinoid products in both Canada and the United States, though, NSPDF is starting to pop up on the radar screens of investors looking for undervalued plays in the fast-growing cannabis and marijuana sector.
NATURALLY SPLENDID NPV (OTCMKTS:NSPDF) shares are currently trading at $0.32, giving the micro-cap a total market cap of $19M. Over a 52-week period, shares of the company have traded as low as $0.18 and as high as $0.37.
Currently, shares are trading in a range of $0.30 – $0.37, suggesting they could be fighting to break through a key resistance point (the company’s 52-week high). Starting in October, shares of the company have been on fire, nearly doubling in value since they ended the day trading for $0.197 on Oct. 4.
There’s a lot to like about Naturally Splendid Enterprises. The company’s goal is to bring hemp to the forefront of health, innovation and biopharmaceuticals. To make that a reality, the company operates 8 different brands and biotech divisions. The company’s four hemp and plant-based retail product brands include Natera (hemp food products), Pawsitive FX (pet care products), CHII (hemp food products sold only online) and Simpli Superfoods. In addition, the company operates the Simpli Ingredients division, which offers bulk and wholesale delivery to connect the market with hemp and plant-based superfood ingredients.
The company has been capitalizing on the booming health and wellness markets through the continued development and commercialization of plant-based and hemp-based products. In fact, the company refers to itself as a biotech company, and describes its products as results of its cutting-edge biotech R&D.
The flagship product for NSPDF is HempOmega, which perfectly shows how the company is crossing over from the “health and wellness” market to the “hemp and cannabis” market.
HempOmega is a homogenous powder created from microencapsulated, 100 percent Canadian hemp seed oil. HempOmega is being positioned as a healthy alternative for omega fatty acids.
According to the company’s latest investor presentation, the total market opportunity for the company’s products is staggering. Its Natera, CHII and Simpli Superfoods products are looking to become part of the $240 million global functional food market. The company’s hemp products are literally flying off the shelves, with the company selling out 13 straight shows on the LOTTE home shopping channel.
What’s perhaps most interesting about NSPDF is that it’s now going after the cannabis market in the U.S. Via its Denver-based subsidiary, Naturally Splendid USA, the company is now looking to become a provider of cannabinoid-based products, including items like CBD-based oils.
Obviously, with nine U.S. states looking to legalize either recreational or medicinal marijuana on Nov. 8, there’s a huge market opportunity for NSPDF within the U.S. market. There’s even talk that Naturally Splendid USA will open a hemp processing facility in Colorado.
Getting the valuation right for NSPDF is tricky. Is it a health and wellness company? Is it a biotech company? Or is it a play on the marijuana and cannabis industry? Certainly, all the pieces are in place. The company is approaching positive cash flow and has a scientific breakthrough product – HempOmega – that can serve as a template for the company’s ongoing development and commercialization opportunities. There’s plenty of blue sky ahead for Naturally Splendid Enterprises, now it is just time to see if investors are also getting that same picture.
