Blade and Diamond Optics Branding on White Label Products

Blade and Diamond Optics Branding on White Label ProductsIn software we have White Label products where the code is written by a vendor who takes on all the R & D costs, and licenses the app for use to another company who, by a configuration setting, have their name and logo front and center on the product.

Before developing software I worked as an Engineer in a manufacturing plant where the product rolls off the production line as a generic product, then the skin was applied just before it went in the box. The skin represented many different very well know companies and their brand names which they have already paid a great deal to be recognized in a positive way.

Outsourced manufacturing is easy peasy nowadays. Not such a scary and expensive thing. I don't think it is a useful flag for bashers to wave, and in my opinion it doesn't hold much strength in the short argument.

Leveraging another's brand name by making the product out to be their own makes much more sense than Nexoptic trying to create their own 'Nexoptic' brand off the get to. Creating a brand name in the consumer market is super expensive, and think the management team is much wiser than that.

I look at Nexoptic as a company that brands their technology not the product, and let the products use their patented designs with a sticker on the product. For example, I am looking at my HP Envy all in one PC sitting on my desk, and on the top left corner it has a logo:'beatsaudio". I'm sure that Dr. Dre gets a nice check to cash from HP. That's just the way its done nowadays.

Maybe you guys have your own ideas for how the product gets to market, but this makes sense to me: Nexoptic designs the lens stack, NewDealDesign dreams up a fancy product to put it in and make people want it, Synapse puts it all together in a design package which is licensed to be used for manufacturing, and the final product ships as product ABC from fortune 500 company XYZ with an ionized logo owned by NXO beside the lense which reads: "Blade Optics".

XYZ covers the manufacturing costs of the supply chain, inventory, shipping, marketing, warranty, etc. etc. etc. and sends Nexoptic the monthly payment to use their tech and their design.

Then XYZ's competitor calls up Paul and says "We want a product just like XYZ's ABC." and Paul says we'll get back to you. Paul calls up and asks XYZ if they want an exclusive deal. If XYZ is to cheap and says no thanks, then Paul calls the competitor and says: sure, you just cover the manufacturing costs of the supply chain, inventory, shipping, marketing, warranty, etc. etc. etc. and send us the monthly payment for using our tech and our design. You will be up and running in no time, and XYZ won't drive you out of business. How does that sound? Ca-ching?
