AUG-21-2012: GUYANA RENEWS PPL - TAKUTU OIL Looks like Guyana has granted (or renewed) a petroleum prospecting license for Takutu oil yesterday. 'The Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) on Tuesday renewed the petroleum prospecting licence (PPL) for the Takutu Oil and Gas Inc, which will allow them to continue onshore drilling in the Takutu area in Region Nine, for the next few years. Note, almost 2 days ago the head of the GGMC, Retired Major General Joseph Singh, resigned as Chairman of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) Board. Replacing him is the Managing Director of Citizens Bank Guyana Incorporated, Ethan Chester, who is now the new chairman of the Guyana Geology And Mines Commission (GGMC).
So, interesting to observe that right after Singh resigns as chairman from the GMCC - the very next day the GMCC renews the PPL for Takutu Oil. Coincidence?
Hopefully the GMCC can quickly issue some type of extension for the Georgetown partners so follow up exploration can proceed forward.
