EXXON - AMARA PROSPECTIt appears the next prospect Exxon will drill on the Sabroek block, after Pluma, is 'Amara'.
According to Hess (earnings call held earlier today), 'Amara' is located 24 miles south-east of the 'Turbot' discovery. Recall, 'Pluma' is 17 miles directly south of Turbot. So, the next 2 exploration prospects Exxon will be drilling - 'Pluma' and 'Amara' - are right next to CGX's 100% owned Corentyne Block! Amazing!
Exxon will drill 'Amara' using the Stena Caron which is in the process of going through recertification in the Canary Islands and then expected to return to Guyana in December.
Exxon expects to SPUD 'Pluma' in the first week of November - prospect will be drilled by the Noble Tom Madden.
Important note, both 'Pluma' and 'Amara' propsects are on the same trend as the 'Hammerhead' discovery. Accoridng to Hess, the 'Hammerhead' discovery has opened up a new play type across the Stabroek block. Additional commentary from Hess regarding Hammerhead:
[Hammerhead] is a massive accumulation. A very think package. In fact, it's the thickest single sand package we have drilled on the Stabroek block to date. It's a very large structure and requires follow-up appraisal drilling. What we can say is that the results of the Hammerhead DST were good - meaning the reservoir quality is excellent and well-connected. Hammerhead could jump the queue in term of being ahead of some of the other development campaigns (Payara, Pacora, etc) - but, its too early to say.
