Guyana Basin GeologyGuyana basin includes offshore Guyana and Suriname. I mentioned this morning that I'm intetested in a number of plays in the area. *I've been reading the following pdf download. I have to look up geological terms from time to time and also familiarize myself to geological ages but for the most part I understand the material and I'm not a geologist. *Kawa is targeting a deep Santonian (86.3 to 83.6 million years ago) sandstone and two shallower sands Campanian (83.6 to 72.1 million years ago) and Santonian as I understand it. *I do not know if it was Campanian and/or Santonian sands where Repsol took 2 kicks at about 8000 ft on Jaguar. The attached PDF says that the shale source rock runs pretty much from Venezuela to French Guyana. *A lot of it's contents have probably not matured into oil but a lot has and is trapped in reservoirs explained by words and illustrations in the attached. It's a bit of a slog going through it but well worth it. * Note that I put asterisks where I started new paragraphs. We'll see if I got this fixed.
