the Santonian Unconformity is classified as "Major Erosional Event" ...after this well it would be classified as "Extreme Erosional Event"..

Imagine a working hydrocarbon system determined above Santonian in H19 Campanian ...Lau-Lau,Haimara,Pluma,Maka Central all around ..the water depth at Lau Lau plus the sediment depth pressurizes that zone in the Stabroek Block yes but the angle getting to H23 and the sediments in the proximal fan setting caused some issues nothing to worry about....the vertical depth to H23 is almost the horizontal distance from Kawa to any of those proven wells ..Lau-Lau,Maka,Haimara and Pluma..thats very close ..no social distancing here..

Seems no NR until the final NR ..redundant testing LWD and Wireline

I’m not sure how to reconcile comments about CGX / Frontera drilling through the top of the Santonian unconformity when the Dec 16 news release states “LWD and cuttings indicate the presence of hydrocarbons in several Campanian and upper Santonian formation”. Those upper Santonian formations were cased off with 9-5/8” casing.    Have we not already drilled through Santonian

OIL_RUN: The Santonian is after the Campanian then the Unconformity is in middle of Sntonian ..splitting it into Upper and Lower Santonian Horizons with H23 and H25 being both below the Unconformity in the 'Lower" Santonian ..so as at Dec 16th they were through to 5700 meters (going through Campanian and "Upper Santonian") knocking on the Santonian Unconformity which had to be

I wouldn't be surprised if they're doing extensive coring on this well, ...and that could be contributing to extending the timelines.  jmo

Full barrel coring has indeed crossed my mind a few times to rationalize extended timing. Also, explains the multiple trips in / out of hole.

my original thought was h19 was better than they expected with them testing instead of just going with lwd. now wondering if it's fishing or sidetrack, would they need to pr? Hoping its exxon, Chevron shell total wanting a piece. Thx

Ebenizer3: Yes Majors are super qualifird partners,but, the work continues on their terms and shedules. Luiperd well drilled by TOTAL with AFE as a partner and lease holder..assigned TOTAL the operatorship and larger % of the pie.  They hit a large Gas well  which is very valuable to South africa  as they need that power source and  have the infrastructure to support more Gas

Oil_Run, In a previous post I looked for clarification on whether they were reporting TVD (true vertical depth) or TMD (true measured depth). If they had 1500 feet to drill TVD but are drilling high angle hole where they'd have to drill say 2300 feet to increase TVD by 1500 feet then that would explain the delay because not only would you have more hole to drill, directional drilling high
