RE:RE:RE:Bored…Torontojay, I agree with your comments, but the thing which I keep coming back to is the demand for healthcare services. Although private staffing represents about 5% of the total hours worked - small but not insigificant - these personnel cannot be compelled to join the public sector. So how will Quebec makeup for this shortfall and increasing demand if they shut down private staffing agencies? People's lives would literally be at risk.
In the latest MD&A, they mention "Generally speaking, demand for our services is expected to remain strong for the foreseeable future" and again "Demand remains strong as we are booking only a fraction of the calls we get."
Plus, PHA has made it clear that they operate as a service to fill in temporary gaps in the healthcare system. One would think that this service is needed even without the severe shortage of nurses just in the nature of the system and its complexity.
The one issue that seems to stick out the most from the Bill 10 discussion is predatory pricing by other smaller agencies. Predatory pricing is harmful to everyone, but one would think that putting a cap on it is an easy way to address the issue, and helps PHA as well.
This is just my two (non-expert) cents, and I'll be the first to admit that the stock has been annihilated far more than I thought possible. But I still feel there is value and a functioning business here.
