Where I'm Putting My Money

Where I'm Putting My Money
@mackvorkian I'm dumping all my NRG shares and buying Tesla. I want to be filthy rich like Musk. But before I do the dump, I'll just do a qwik check of Tesla's P/E ratio. Here's at it.

****Current and historical p/e ratio for Tesla (TSLA) from 2009 to 2020. The price to earnings ratio is calculated by taking the latest closing price and dividing it by the most recent earnings per share (EPS) number. The PE ratio is a simple way to assess whether a stock is over or under valued and is the most widely used valuation measure. Tesla PE ratio as of November 27, 2020 is 1152.61.

**** That's gotta be a great number. Its really high!! Wait a minute.

**** P/E Ratio: Why It Is Important? You don’t have to calculate each company’s P/E ratio yourself. After all, you can just Google it. But in case you’re curious, the ratio is the share price divided by earnings per share. The resulting number tells you how much you are paying per dollar that the company earns. For example, a ratio of 15 means that investors are willing to pay $15 for every dollar of company earnings. This is why the P/E ratio is sometimes referred to as the “earnings multiple” or just “multiple.” You generally use the P/E ratio by comparing it to other P/E ratios of companies in the same industry or to past P/E ratios of the same company. If you are comparing same-sector companies, the one with the lower P/E may be undervalued. Or if you’re looking at past data for one company, a higher number could mean it’s no longer a bargain.

**** So a good number is low, as in 15 or not a lot higher that 25.
**** What about Gold miners? I own shares in Kinross. What's K's P/E? **** Kinross Gold Corp $ 7.11 -0.01 (-0.14%) Volume: 6,422,433 Avg Vol (1m): 11,771,725 Market Cap $: 9.02 Bil Enterprise Value $: 10.02 Bil P/E (TTM): 8.26 P/B: 1.53

***** Kinross's P/E is 8.26 !!!! Now there's a company that's making money!!! So on second thought, I don't see my buying Tesla any day soon. Tesla is making money Now. Prior to this, Tesla's P/E was ZERO. NRG's P/E is Zero right now too. But they're not mining anything yet.

I'll hang onto my Kinross and my NRG. And yes, the bull market in Gold is not over. The fundamentals are getting stronger every day. NRG will hit the high grade and lots of low grade. The POG will break $2300 soon enough. I've gotta a lot of shares, and I am optimistic.
