FJ 31 Zone

FJ 31 ZoneI'm confused by some of the things I have been reading on this board. Specifically information about the FJ 31 zone. It has been stated that previously 600,000 barrels of oil have been extracted from this zone. If that is the case, why would anyone expect that this zone would contain large additional amounts of oil. What I have been reading is that someone thinks that any portion of this FJ 31 zone is like a gasoline pump connected to an unlimited supply of oil. They make it sound like if you find this zone you can tap into huge reserves of oil. To me it makes more sense to assume that since 600,000 barrels of oil have already been extracted from this zone that it is more likely to be a zone which has been depleted of much of its oil. That may not be the case but if I am not mistaken, the oil collects in what might be considered an underground lake. This oil lake is spread out over a very large area and the depth of the oil lake would be different at different points in the zone. If you happen to hit an area of the zone that is on the outer edge of the oil lake, the amount of oil that could be extracted would be very limited. However, if you hit an area in the middle of the lake where the depth of the oil was very deep, much more oil could be extracted. In any case, any oil extracted from this zone would deplete the total amount available that might be extracted from other wells located at different locations. Where is my logic going wrong?
