De Beers sues Rhonda over claim

De Beers Canada Corp. of
Toronto has sued Rhonda Corp. of Calgary in Ontario
Superior Court, claiming it owns a 51-per-cent stake in
Rhonda's Knife diamond property in Nunavut and that it has
a joint venture agreement with Rhonda. De Beers has drilled
nine holes on the property and taken a mini-bulk sample.
Rhonda claims no agreement had been reached and it has
ended negotiations. Early this month, Rhonda entered an
option/joint venture agreement with Teck Cominco Ltd. of
Vancouver covering claims adjacent to its Knife property.
