Interesting

Energy crisis, climate and colonial history

Economics Minister Habeck is traveling to Namibia and South Africa for several days today. On site, the focus should be on energy supply and climate protection. But the Vice Chancellor also has to face up to German colonial history.

Strong wind, almost always sun, lots of open land. Ideal conditions for the production of green hydrogen. The hopes that German companies, but also the federal government, are pinning on Namibia are great. There is probably "no better place in the world to produce hydrogen from wind and solar energy cheaply," says Reiner Baake, director of the Climate Neutral.

In July, the former state secretary was appointed special representative for German-Namibian climate and energy cooperation by Economics Minister Robert Habeck.
Habeck and the Namibian Energy Minister Tom Alweendo signed the cooperation agreement in March. During the trip, which starts on Sunday, the talks will focus on the agreement and the question of how the cooperation between the two countries in the field of hydrogen economy can be expanded.

The Germans have already agreed in principle to reperations and even have committed some funding but only at a small amount.  If they were to help with building refineries, beefing up the rails, etc It would not only help Namibia but be good for their businesses as Namibia prospers.
