RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:When patent expires 2018/2019Yes unfortunate that health Canada is dragging their feet with granting licenses for RTI as their patents are running out. However, the barriers to entry for a new operation wanting to utilize the MAP tech are very high, in both capital outlay and time to get an operation up and running. I understand it would take 2 years to get a new facility in operation. Additionally, RTI's competitive advantage is not just in the patents it holds but also their proprietary associated continuous flow design which is not patented and separate from the MAP process. This and their other downstream processes is what allows them to provide the massive throughput which is critical to their value add process. A discussion with the CEO indicated that they specifically chose not to secure a patent for their continuous flow design as part of the process of securing a patent is providing detailed data on how the process works, which is not information they want to provide to their competition. So in short, yes the patent expiries are creeping up, however, the barriers to entry the sector are both capital and time intensive and the other intellectual property held by RTI are critical to providing the throughput, yields and efficiency that they offer and are so attractive to large licensed producers like ACB. Long and Strong RTI! I will start thinking about selling at $5!
