McQuibban 6
Referring to Ontario Geological Survey Map M82833, it shows a strong Ternary potassium anomaly that correlates with the magnetic anomaly on the eastern flank of the 'Ring of Skarn'. There is also a weaker thorium anomaly as well. There will be no radioactive response over the lake, because of the water.
Could this be a large syenite intrusive? The large number of skarn indicator minerals seems to indicate that it may be.
With respect to the McQuibban property, my suggested targets for drilling would be:
1) Using the Noranda's ground survey line numbers, a good target would be Line 1000E. It should be drilled to the south, towards the oxide iron formation. Caution should be given to the sharp magnetic low (-1200 gammas) to the north, as it is only a one line anomaly. It could very well be related to a buried boulder. I mentioned quartz feldspar porphyry, syenite and kimberlite before, being a source for this negative anomaly, but more ground work over this anomaly should be carried out before any drilling takes place (such as MMI or Enzyme Leach soil sampling).
2) A hole should be put down in a southerly direction on Line 400W, into the weaker part of the magnetic IF, where magnetite destruction alteration appears to have taken place.
3) A hole should be put down on Line 2400W in a southerly direction with the collar being located north of Noranda's Conductor B so as to intersect the conductive source as Noranda's DH collar was badly located, and extended into the IF. It is possible that Conductor B correlates with my interpreted east west fault that may be associated with the potential western extension of the Casa Berardi Fault.
4) A hole should be considered on the strong circular anomaly located off the west end of the property. Again, this is located on open ground. If carried out, the hole should be directed towards the west (lake) to take in the positive magnetic anomaly (skarn?) and into the core (syenite?).
With regards to No. 4, maybe a few lines of either alluvial till sampling or MMI soil sampling should be carried out first before any drilling is carried out. Just my thoughts!!
