Liberty's shoe scanner licensed you say?

Not sure does Liberty have its own patent or is it licensing someone elses patent? Odd I can't find any information on the Liberty website
Plymouth Rock is also part of the Apex at speed program also outlined in that newsrelease above.

Got to wonder why then if its the same lab that developed the body scanner what did L-3 pass on licensing the shoe scanner aspect?

Couple of reasons. Firstly, the security industry's leading companies just like tech, Pharma, bio, diagnostics... have greatly reduced their R&D budgets over the past decade or so. They generally rely on acquisitions to expand product offerings. Secondly, L3's security division was acquired by Leidos in May 2020.
