RE:CBC Article from Jan 24th 2020This quote explains why I have a position in Score Media. The federal Liberal government are big spenders. At the same time, rightly or wrongly, the federal gov't seems to be willing to handcuff continued development in Canada's resource sector with an increasingly ambivalent attitude to what historically has been a huge cash cow to the gov't in terms of resource royalties.
This gov't needs to find new sources of revenue to finance ever increasing spending, at a time when royalties from oil and gas resources are shrinking.
Anyone who thinks that sports betting in Canada won't be legalized in the next year or two is just not paying attention to what's happening in the world around him. GLTA!

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/tasker-single-event-sports-betting-1.5437725 Informative piece on the appetite for single-game betting in Canada at the moment. Looks like current Liberal government has little interest, but it seems like the Conservatives in Ontario may be pushing for it, and MP's in the NDP are in favor as well.
