One thing to keep in mind is that Spectra7 is not a cable manufacturer or even a chip maker but the designer of chips to make cables "active", that is, faster and lighter. They then sell these chips to cable manufacturers and then sell the finished cables to OEMs and end users. They could sell the same chips to several cable manufacturers and compete with them with their so-called S7 cables. In fact is that S7 doesn't even fabricate their own chips but rathr design then and then have them fabricated by specialty fab shops.
If their chip patents are strong they will be in a good position to profit both from their own active cables and those of other manufacturers.
