Spectra7 seeks an experienced Lab Technician to join our growing team. Responsibilities include build, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain custom equipment used in the testing of company products. This is a full-time position and is located in our Palo Alto Office.
Responsibilities
- Assist engineering staff to build custom test systems, including hardware assembly, software installation, and system performance verification.
- Write and execute test scripts to collect and analyze test system performance data; perform basic statistical analysis and generate reports to summarize findings.
- Troubleshoot test system and product failure modes, perform root-cause analysis, summarize and present corrective actions.
- Performance software and firmware regression testing; summarize and report results.
- Assist technical writers to document system designs, procedures, and create product operating instructions for end users.
- Other duties as required by management.
Requirements
Required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Ability to read and understand highly technical documents including schematics, PCB design and manufacturing data, 2d mechanical assembly prints, and other documentation.
- Familiarity with basic PC hardware and Microsoft Windows troubleshooting techniques.
- Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Experience writing and editing Microsoft PowerShell scripts.
- Experience soldering very small surface mount component and wires to PCBs.
- Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results and make corrections.
Preferred
- Working knowledge of high speed signal characterization using eye diagrams and/or s-parameters.
- Exposure to or experience with lean and six sigma methods.
- Experience with computer programming and/or scripting languages such as C++ and Python.
- Experience with software revision control systems such as Subversion or Git.
- Familiarity with inventory control and quality managements systems.
