As we head into the final stretch of 2016, this has without a doubt been the year of virtual reality. In 10 years we will view 2016 just like we view 2007 when it comes to smartphones. In fact the growth of the VR market may be even faster than that of the smartphone. So, it's certainly been a big year for the space, but 2017 could be even bigger, with numerous new headsets on the horizon and content streaming in like never before. Below are 11 predictions for the VR/Ar Space over the course of 2017:

-- February 2017 - Netflix rolls out first VR series

-- March 2017 - The First Microsoft Holographic VR headsets begin to launch by Partner Companies

-- April 2017 - Samsung's New Gear VR Unveiled With Galaxy S8. Includes eye-tracking, better controls and more.

-- July 2017 - Niantic Announces A New AR Game which Eclipses Pokemon Go in popularity

-- August 2017 - Facebook Rolls Out Social VR in a bare-bones format

-- September 2017 - Google Reports 30 Million DayDream-ready Smartphones on the Market, 8 Million Daydream Headsets Sold

-- September 2017 - HTC Vive 2 (Oasis) Unveiled - Features eye-tracking, foveated rendering and 4K. Wireless is a possibility, but unlikely.

-- September 2017 - Apple finally Unveiles their own Mixed Reality Headset (It is very similar to the Occipital Bridge) - Priced at $299.99. iPhone 8 or 8-Plus required.

-- October 2017 - Big news From Both Microsoft (Hololens) and Magic Leap on their AR/MR products - Consumer-ready Hololens forthcoming, and Magic Leap details plans for an early 2018 launch.

-- October 2017 - Oculus Rift 2 Unveiled - Comparable to the HTC Vive 2 features, without Foveated rendering.

-- December 2017 - A Major Cable Provider Jumps into the VR Space, offering content and headset leasing.
