RE:B. Riley Conf- Raoulf's preso- Q/A at end, fuzzy, no hear??
Yes, he waid 40 cables per server. Each of of each cable would save 2.8 watts for a total of 5.6 watts per cable. But the important question is how many cables per data center. I asked Sophic Capial that question a couple of months ago and was told 75,000. If all those cables went from fiber to ACC (which won't happen as some cables will remain passive copper) and some long distance runs will need to stay fiber) is 5.6x75000 or 420 kolowatts.
Over a year that's 3.7 million kilowatts or 3.7 Gigawatts. The CFO was talking about gigwatts saved, so we're in that ballpark. At 10 cents a kilowatt hour that's $370,000 savings per year in electricity savins in a low electrical cost environment. But that's only half the picture. The additional power dissipated results in additional heat production which must be removed through air conditioning and there are similar cost svintds in reduced cooling costs.
