The Broadcom BCM87850 is single-chip, 8x106-Gb/s full-duplex, ultra-low power, ultra-low latency  Retimer PHY optimized for Active Copper Cable applications.

The  BCM87850  is capable of equalizing 22 db of loss on both the host-side and line-side interfaces.

Each lane is capable of multiple data rates, including 53.125 Gb/s and 106.25 Gb/s in PAM-4 mode.

I can't tell if you are writing this as a positive or negative. The Broadcom chip is a direct competitor to the Spectra7 chip. You meant this as a negative, right? -Chucklehead

Any large scale adoption of ACCs would only increase S7s prospects.

If S7 didn't have supply chain issues I would agree with you. Right now they have a backlog that they never can get rid of and are most likely running out of money again. It is a smart business move for FIT to diversify to another ACC, especially from a company with $24 billion in revenue and not going anywhere. Now they have a plan B or plan A if they have put S7 on the back burner ...more
