It is going to move the neddle further down the line.   There is a huge push on in the US in the billions of dollars to cut dependence on China.

Piedmont is at the forefront of that effort and is constructing a lithium processing plant in Tennessee.  However they are having trouble permitting their lithium deposits in the United States which is why they have looked to Africa and Newfoundland.

The reason the U.S. is backing the Ukraine war is because of the 8 to 10 trillion dollars of critical metals in the Ukraine they do not want Russia to have to export to China.  Listen to what war monger Senator Lindsey Graham said on 9 June 2024 on "Face the Nation" at the 4 minute mark:
