TBRIF Vs THRM

An American friend I exchange stock ideas with recommended I pick up some TBRIF so I took a position yesterday. My bids were showing up on L2 of TBRIF .. but my account shows I hold THRM. THRM showed a high of .09 CAD yesterday; but TBRIF was .10USD (.135 CAD) Like it appears my holdings could do worse (or better I suppose) based on how it trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Both my brokers converted my TBRIF buys to THRM.v and they converted them at $1.38CAD when exchange was $1.35CAD yesterday.. so even though I was buying in this account at no higher than .0635usd and it finished at .0675usd, I still finished -10% on the day. Could someone please provide some insight on this?
