RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:PH1 Focus is Safety End Points Surpassed by farMaybe you are right vestor. Yes, Big Pharma is globally competitive, Big Banks are globally competitive, in fact just about all multi-nationals are globally competitive. It doesn't stop any of them from actions that if not for the political power that they wield they could be cited as criminally litigable.
There is enough unsavoury literature about Big Pharma and their ability to control the markets in their predominant fields. Their willingness to set ridiculous prices for their products until they are shamed by publicity to change. Witness the price for HIV drugs in Africa until the horrendous publicity they received caused them to pull an about face.
There is one overriding consideration and that is profit, nothing takes a back seat to that number one item. It's not just companies like Monsanto providing antibiotics to the agricultural industry. It's Big Pharma that produces 75% of antibiotics that are consumed by farm animals, chickens, cows, turkeys, pigs, etc.Drugs are pumped into them to make them bigger, stronger, fatter faster, making them more profitable. Cheaper to use antibiotics produced by Big Pharma, rather that good animal hygiene, and Big Pharma agrees.
The result is a food chain polluted with antibiotics and as a result so are our waterways. Again; the result as we ingest more and more antibiotics the more resistant we become, thus the emergence of superbugs.
Now you tell me that Big Pharma gives a piece of feces, I think not..
It is said that generally we can relate as far forward as our great grandchildren, maybe you can throw another great in there, after that it all becomes a bit fuzzy. Looking too far into the future is not a Big Pharma priotity.
