The rigermarole that the choir gives us, points to this scenario, so too sp suggests a poor deal, and pharma is laughing giving a whew, dodged a big bullet with Roger not asking for a bidding war! So pharma sees Roger as someone they would be willing to work with, if forced, if they were forced to bid now!! Not their preference.
