I'm sure the Canadian patients are paying a pretty high cost for service in Boston. Would it be good if Princess Margaret/UHN was to do the same thing in reverse for similar payment? Or would that be taboo for our universal health system?



The problem is that the best medical care would be reserved for the wealthy if you allowed a private medical system in Canada. It would also put the best medical people out of reach for the average citizen since a doctor could make a lot more money charging the rich in a private clinic. Look at the desperation rural communities are facing to attract even 1 doctor to bring his practice when they know they can make a lot more money treating patients in the big cities.
