Just watching the Quantumscape presentation. They say they will be using a nickel-rich nmc cathode at least to begin with for their potentially gamechanging solid state battery.

The thing with nickel is that with the level of demand it would need to do the revolution, and the low discovery rate of high grades in the past 20 years... the price would have to double to have enough to go around... but then, and this price, most of the proprosed efficiencies are offset by the high price...

Not sure the cost for 50kg NI per car will be as prohibitive as that. Learning curve will continue to make battery manufacturing cheaper. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-nickel-batteries-electric-graphic-idUSKCN1VH18Z

That's the spirit :) Meanwhile LME nickel almost 8$/ pound. Thats 880$ per battery if it doubles up!
