TRES-OR EXPLORATION RESULTS AND CORPORATE UPDATE
Tres-Or Resources Ltd. has released the results of its test of the possible coarse size distribution at the Lapointe kimberlite, which is a large (over 21-hectare) body located in the heart of Canada's mining district between New Liskeard and Timmins in Ontario. More than 50 tons of in-place kimberlite was extracted from a single large-diameter reverse circulation (RC) drill hole between 81.5 metres and a vertical depth of 260.5 m. The RC drill was operated by contractor North West Sequoia Drilling Ltd. and produced consistently coarse chips of kimberlite, with more than 95 per cent being greater than seven millimetres in diameter. Under a first rights agreement with Stornoway Diamond Corporation, processing of the sample was completed by independent contractor Microlithics Laboratories Inc. in Thunder Bay, Ont., at cost using a dense media separation (DMS) plant equipped with a bottom square meshed screen size of 0.8 millimetre.
Processing procedures were audited independently for Tres-Or during operations by DRA Americas Inc., which recommended certain additional tracer tests, which served to confirm the separation of heavy minerals by the plant. No macrodiamonds greater than 0.8 mm were returned from this test, thus not replicating the earlier sparse return of coarse diamonds from microdiamond tests, and failing to support a possible coarse size distribution. The lack of macrodiamonds from the RC sample in contrast to caustic fusion results from drill core may reflect a sparse and heterogeneous distribution throughout the multiphase pipe, or the typically lower diamond returns from RC operations, or some combination of these processes.
