Why Lynas shutting down means anything to Ucore.
Good afternoon,
If lynas shuts down in July, even if it is only for three to six months. That shows the weakness in Lynas supply chain. It also apply more political pressure to get a 100% separation plant going in north America. I remember an article 2013 about China saying they were going to stop selling REEs outside of China in 2023. What happen to the world if China stopped selling REEs the same time Lynas has to shut down. Bad, very bad for the world. Would the US and Canadian government be at Ucore door with a lot of money? Any time you shut down REE supply chains anywhere government are going to notice and react.

Would be important to ucore if they had a business right now, they aren't close

dragon even if Lynas shuts down and Ucore could pull it together 2000 TPA is a blip on the radar. The scale up factor would be well beyond Ucores current and future capabilities. It's like comparing a mom and pop grocery to COSTCO.

Dear Rod, How many tons a year does the US need? Not the world but just the US. If China goes down into chaos or stops selling. What happens to the price of REEs that Ucore produces? Dragon

Correct! It amazes me that nobody can see this other than a handful of people. Fact is this entire LA. thing STILL has the potential to pull and AIDEA or IBC Technologies smoke and mirror show.

I wonder if those politicians and regular folks in Louisiana who act so excited realize how shaky Ucore's supposed investment and jobs are? Ucore's not exactly a AAA credit.

Pip. Exactly. I.e., shaky. That doesn't mean Ucore will fail to come through with the investment and jobs in Louisiana, but I'd say it's shaky.

In this potential scenario, despite planned scale-up, to Dragon's ponderings, would there not be cash from gov't and or other capital to scale up rapidly (expand engineering team, construction joint ventures etc)? Even just SX let alone of RSC works? Partners or gov't support to secure friendly feedstock from Australia etc?

Unless or until Ucore proves itself, not talking about RSX, but even for SX, if givernment were really anxious for more domestic REO separation, seems they'd more likely throw some bucks at MP Materials to expand.
