RE:RE:Tipping PointThis isn't true. The company is well aware of Bokan, just that it is not economical at current REE prices. They have worked hard in the local area and with state government with the ultimate goal of bringing Bokan and a separation facility online. This is to bring local jobs and political capital.
The US government will attempt to secure a domestic supply of rare earths. Whether it be Mountain pass, bear lodge, or Bokan. Bokan is a low percentage mine with the good stuff. If they have an opportunity to bring Bokan online, they will, but only if it is economical.
This may be possible with Federal / state funding or long term contracts.
OF COURSE, their main focus is securing MRT and low cost feedstock (coal ash and oil bitumen) first, but don't forget that Jim lived with a dude for months just to get the rights to mine Bokan. Don't think he ultimately doesn't want to see it happen.
