Dear Ausheds, Why?

Dear Ausheds,
I have asked this question before and never even got close to an answer. I think that none on this board have more tech knowledge and Lynas on REE than you. So why has Lynas built it's separation plant overseas? Why can't Lynas build a separation plant at it's mine site? Why must it be in Malaysia or TX?

Costs, water, reagents, certain amount of this is being overcome by sheer scale & automation at Kal but C&L will still be higher cost than Malaysia. US, like Oz, is another high cost location but Lynas again counting on a very high level of automation plus highly refined SX process & methodology, they are extremely confident (privately, they don't BS all over the media) they have ...more
