WSJ araticle regarding rare earths

I've been wondering why Ucore has not been able to garner any material non-dilutive funding. Is the RapidSX technology simply not economically viable? Do the owners (principally Orca/Randy Johnson and Concept Capital Management) not want to cede any de-facto control over the company?

I bring this up because I read a (pay-walled) article today from the WSG titled "The Rare Earths Mine That Won’t Need a Single Shovel". They are discussing a project in South Africa by Rainbow Rare Earths. It involves processing gypsum tailings.

What caught my eye and caused me to do a bit more dd was that RBW.L (or RBWRF as it trades on U.S. pink sheets) has secured funding: "... Brian Menell, CEO of TechMet, a U.S. government-backed critical-minerals investment company that recently invested $50 million in Rainbow."

Other tidbits: "Rainbow is now working with K-Tech, a Lakeland, Fla.-based chemical technology firm, on a novel approach to processing the rare earths further into more valuable rare-earth oxides. It is testing out a faster, more environmentally friendly way, known as continuous-ion chromatography, which has been used in photography." (K-Tech also calls themselves K-Technologies, Inc. on their web site).

Where is Techmet getting their funding? From DFC, the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, a U.S. government organization as evidenced by their .gov url (www.dfc.gov).

In any case, it is worthwhile for those interested to read the article if they can avoid the paywall.

And, here is the press release from TechMet.

I read an Aug 2016 article in Mining Magazine where Hatch said:   “We were pleased to work with MSV to demonstrate the effectiveness of the RapidSX process on Serra Verde REE concentrates," commented Gareth Hatch, president of IMC. “Combining the time-proven chemistry of SX with IMC’s proprietary column-based approach, avoids the risks associated with novelty separation ...more

How about this? https://www.mining-technology.com/news/serra-verde-begins-rare-earth-production/?cf-view So, I see that they are commercially producing mixed rare earth concentrates. Apparently, the separation into rare earth oxides is done by some other entity. But, one of those can't be Ucore because they say MREC samples from the Pela Ema deposit have already been accepted by major ...more

They didn't deal with "Ucore" back then & IMC was the 1st to successful seperate their concentrate.....for a later time contracting They recieved way more funding then Ucore, because it's a mine & etc... I think JMOG is also going to wrap all these lose ends up, related to a western build-out Or whatever the company name is that funds Lynas for yrs

Just like if you search Ucore on DOD, won't find it. But IMC you do..... https://www.highergov.com/contract-opportunity/rfs-rare-earth-elements-ree-initiatives-rfs-w900kk-23-9-0005-o-94c0a/#bidders Another link keeps the process better updated....this only shows "31%" complete

Interesting web site. Beats trying to search the government web sites. But it isn't clear to me that "31% complete" means that Ucore/IMC has completed 31% of the work. If you calculate the number of days from the start date and the current end date (732 days), then divide that number by the number of days from the start date until today (229 days), it miraculously comes out to 31%.  ...more

Think beyond the money --- it's peanuts if the DOD is truly behind the mid-stream being built. It means they've confirmed it to separation, alloy & magnet makers. Let's say it's a yes.....then Ucore mentioned those extra 50 acres for a reason.  Shall see..... RapidSX & SMC "$55m" for 5k tpa, are not the weak links.  Wonder how the bastanite campain ...more

It does seem to be progressing. But the money is not peanuts to Ucore. They had less than C$1 million at Sep 30. They buried low within the recent press release (Jan 11) regarding the extension of the 2020 convertible debentures the following: In addition to the amendments of the terms of the 2020 Convertible Debentures, the Company hereby announces its plans to complete a non-brokered ...more

If DOD has validated their support, the money needed is nothing. You guys keep overlooking the big picture potential. So many companies wish...their Capx was only 30 - 50m for being a breakthrough tech $$$ amount @ this stage is no worry to me personally... Lynas would've thrown a company party over these types of numbers....how much spent & still no Heavies

"So many companies wish...their Capx was only 30 - 50m for being a breakthrough tech"  Not a day goes by when Lynas CEO doesn't wish she could trade Lynas' market cap & balabnce sheet with Ucore's.

Yea....exactlly what i said. How much did "lynas" spend getting their Light plant up n running ???? They spent more on legal bills, etc....fighting the communities.....than Ucore will have on RSX That's the point.....with your stoopid reply People like you do just as much damage to new lookers, as the shorting & whatever else you shallowly complain about Post some real ...more

Lynas spent lots of money. Has market cap more than 100 times greater than Ucore. Lynas getting 7 times more DOD money than Ucore's market cap to build HREE plant in Texas. What a failure Lynas has been. Maybe RSX will prove out. If so, Ucore has great potential. If not, it can head to zero.
