09:57 AM EST, 01/20/2022 (MT Newswires) -- Universal Copper (UNV.V) said Thursday it has started a targeted drill core logging and relogging exploration program at its flagship Poplar Copper Deposit project, southwest of Houston, British Columbia. Core from the 2005 drilling programs onward, totaling over 26,000 metres in 67 holes (including the 2021 program) will form the basis for the targeted drill core logging/re-logging campaign, Universal said. The program, led by Vector Geological Solutions Inc, will help advance the geological understanding of the deposit and identify additional drill targets, the copper exploration company said. New copper-molybdenum-gold targets will have the potential to increase the grade and tonnage of the existing resource, it added. Clive Massey, Universal Copper's CEO and President, said advancing the technical understanding of the Poplar deposit will produce "robust" diamond drill targets and "significantly enhance" the potential to increase the size and grade of the resource. "A better understanding at Poplar will improve our ability to identify new targets elsewhere on the broader, prospective land position," Massey said. The company also said that it continues to receive assays from the drill program undertaken in the quarter ended Dec. 31 and that it will release the results upon review and quality verification. |
