This recent run up can't just be due to Invicta plugging away / finishing up their Q1 drilling program.  1.59MM shares traded today...the most since it bottomed out in early October.   

Pure speculation on my part but my guess is that buyers are betting on new WSX buying out VCA.  Assuming the warrants are cashed, New WSX will have the cash and credit available to buy out their partner in the Viking

They have been very quiet about the whole thing, the only way i figured out what i know was from Paramount. They replied in email they sold the property to Wildstream, i contacted wsx and they had no comment and VCA told me in response to my questions about who own's what and what was happening that they would have a detailed NR about my inquireries in about 10 days and that was Jan 13th. The VCA lands at Dodlands lies adjacent to Compass lands (buyout by Whitecap WCP) which closes on February 9th. This is a new core for Whitecap and would expect additional acquisition to build this core area. The new WSX is definitely a possibility and would be a great team to take over these assets, however their transaction closes mid March. It is difficult to do additional deals while you are

Thanks O&G.  It looks to me now like someone got ahold of today's NR on Friday, saw that VCA was only trading at 2X forecasted cash flow and wanted to build a large position.

Nice press release, like that there won't be need for more financing to double production and Alberta is going to be drilled. No news of change of ownership of the farmin lands so think there still in play and low key mention of Alberta drilling as i still think this could be the game changer as this is viking lands and mention of sucess of other companies and 100%    In addition the
