Not optimistic for palladium and platinum

Forecasts are not optimistic for palladium (some say $700)
And even for platinum, all is not optimism. It could be replaced by silver in certain cases, according to the link below. Given the high price of platinum compared to silver, won't science try to replace it with other metals?
