Leading indicators A carrot on a stick, is a leading indicator. It seemingly motivates the donkey to move forward. But eventually the donkey either wises up, in this case seems not, or it just dies of starvation.
In this case, the lack of lagging indicators as indicated here as a dung pile, is a strong indication of a lack of forward indicators, known here as fabricated stories, or the carrot of you will, being transformed from the minds of those who weave them, into reality. The right now indicators. The eating of the carrot , or the reality part, seems to never materialize. Which is odd because this place smells of dung!
