I think the issue is Greed and the hopes of making a very quick buck that clouds even the basic principles of judgement (Bernie M, Enron, FTX, etc). People get lost in a good ole fairy tale of jobs, pride, etc. and are then led like sheep to a slaughter in the end. They want to believe in a good news story but just like Warren Buffett said, if it’s too good to be true - it is NOT. He also said never invest in something that isn't proven as a well-oiled machine already. Add all these things up and you have a recipe for a fool and his/her money departing.
Take the FTX CEO, same story. Said he only had 100K left to his name and somehow found $250M in bail. Trust me, they will find out where he is hiding the rest of his stash. It’s only a matter of time before they kick over more rocks to find what’s hiding underneath.
Soon they will open up the class action on FTX CEO when the gets a visit from the Ghost of Christmas future who “pays” a visit with all the people to confront you by all you have screwed over! I don’t think it will be 1 visit but to the many involved.
