In reality Kurdistan is part of Iraq and therefore subject to all sorts of possibilities. Who would have thought back pedalling by FDP was even a remote possibility yet here we are suddenly back peddled. To say that it has nothing to do with Baghdad being leery of giving up more now than they can get back later after the west has armed the Kurds and when ISIL is no longer the common enemy that binds the two sides might be a bit of wishful thinking. If you think the West wants to break Iraq apart then arming the Kurds will accomplish that which of course brings the war straight into the Kurdish region.
