I don't buy the grades getting better at depth thesis. I never have and perhaps I never will. Maybe I'm wrong.
We can mine 250 tonnea a day at a certain grade or we can mine 2500 tonnes a day at a certain grade. The latter will be lower grade.

You are correct. As mining goes deeper, costs like pumping, ventilation, transportation, and ground support go up, so the cut-off grade goes up and the net effect is you mine a higher grade. The lower-grade material is left in the ground.
