Lithium Exploration Boom

Lithium Exploration Boom
Despite a retreat in prices following last year's record high, the lithium exploration boom has persisted, largely in Canada with Quebec and Ontario attracting the most new projects: https://www.mining.com/lithium-exploration-in-canada-in-charts/

Alberta, however, hosts a range of advanced projects including E3 Lithium's (ETL, $211M market cap) Bashaw pre-feasibility stage lithium brine project, LithiumBank's (LBNK, $48M market cap) Boardwalk Lithium Brine Project, as well as Volt Lithium's (VLT.v VLTLF. $20M market cap) Rainbow Lake Pre-PEA Lithium Project.

VLT's Rainbow Lake Project boasts a substantial lithium resource of 4.3 million tonnes with concentrations reaching up to 121mg/L. The company is currently on track to release a PEA for Rainbow Lake this summer and aims to produce 1,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide by the end of June 2025.

The company highlight, however, is VLT's innovative IES-300 DLE technology, designed for extracting lithium from oilfield brines. VLT's DLE technology achieves impressive lithium recoveries, reaching 90% from concentrations as low as 34 mg/L and 97% recoveries using 120 mg/L concentrations, all while maintaining commercial viability.

With a recent financing round of approximately $6.8M, VLT has all of the capital needed to execute its focus, including the implementation of its DLE production method by the second half of 2024 at its Rainbow Lake Property.

VLT has additionally accelerated its potential for domestic lithium production through its strategic collaboration with two cutting-edge nanotechnology labs. This partnership is focused on removing contaminants from oilfield brine to use in VLT's DLE technology, offering a compelling opportunity to oil and gas operators, and presenting a win-win situation by adding value to existing oilfield operations.
