"The question of 'if DLE works' is gone now."

"The question of 'if DLE works' is gone now."
"The question of 'if DLE works' is gone now. It's an engineering challenge. It's not a technological challenge," said E3's Doornbos.
As lithium is the limiting factor in electric vehicle production, the lithium mining industry is working to reinvest how the metal is extracted for production, creating a robust market for lithium brine mining and direct lithium extraction (DLE).

DLE efficiently produces battery-grade lithium carbonate or hydroxide by pulling the brine directly into a processing unit to separate the lithium and inject the brine back underground. With the demand for EVs and lithium-ion batteries booming, the need for DLE technology is becoming clear.

Aiming to be North America's first commercial producer of lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonates from oilfield brine, Volt Lithium (VLT.v VLTLF, 40M Market Cap) has emerged as a high potential opportunity in the industry and gaining prominence as a "life-changing" lithium find with its innovative IES-300 DLE technology.

VLT's DLE technology is engineered to extract lithium from oilfield brines and boasts an impressive lithium recovery rate of 90% from concentrations as low as 34 mg/L while maintaining commercial viability. Most notably, however, VLT's tech can achieve 97% recoveries using 120mg/L concentrations.

Following the release of a PEA later this year, VLT will be implementing its DLE production method at its Rainbow Lake Project by the second half of 2024 with the aim to produce 1,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide by the end of June 2025. Notably, VLT's Rainbow Lake Property showcases a substantial lithium resource of 4.3 million tonnes with concentrations reaching up to 121mg/L.

In removing contaminants from oilfield brine for use in their DLE technology, VLT offers a compelling opportunity to oil and gas operators by providing a win-win situation by adding value to existing oilfield operations.
