Nasdaq only

Once on the NASDAQ can these be held in a TFSA?  In an RRSP?

Yes. Scroll to the bottom of the link below and you will see NASDAQ is indeed a designated stock exchange for the investment of securities in registered accounts. https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/services/designated-stock-exchanges.html

Nearly all my holdings are making huge rallies today after the Fed statement except for VMD. Maybe an indication that concerns Canadian investors have about the delisting will weigh on the stock for awhile?
Comment by westcoastlogger on Dec 13, 2023 3:53pm
Even though there is nothing to worry about with the de-listing there are probably many that think its being de-listed everywhere. Its called not doing their DD. Go figure.
Comment by Tropicalsun on Dec 13, 2023 4:31pm
Too funny, anyone that had any concerns should have immediately talked with an expierenced broker or better yet a seasoned accountant and they would have heard the words that there is nothing to be concerned about regarding this delisting. This is tax loss selling and the institutional boys keep baiting the waters looking for sellers, id say it's working pretty good so far. Did you pay ...more

Cant buy identical stock 30 days before or 30 days after settlement date.

What..!  That makes no sense.. I'd stop giving advice if that's your take on how the loss crystalization clause reads.. OMG!! :-0

Here's the proof you're wrong logger..! So ya maybe you should do some reading!  When using this strategy to save on taxes, take care to avoid triggering the superficial loss rule. This applies if you repurchase the same investment or an identical one within 30 days of the settlement date of the sale, and it eliminates the tax benefit. The superficial loss rule extends to affiliated ...more

I said what I said to avoid a long winded diatribe like you just blathered on about. All I was suggesting was to read the rules to find out what the 30 day rule was. *whew* Some peoples kids have to be led by the hand because they can't figure it out for themselves. And by the way, you would be the last person I would ever take advice from.

My original post about this commented on the 30 day before or after rule and you being the windbag that has to argue with me about everything said I was wrong. Now your saying I'm right with your no chit Einstein comment. Make up your mind. All I was suggesting was google tax loss selling and read the rules. Sheese!!
Comment by westcoastlogger on Dec 14, 2023 11:53am
Read your comment!!!!!  You say my comment only applies to property sales, NOT STOCKS!! Your full of it. It applies to all securities.
Comment by Moemoney42 on Dec 14, 2023 11:59am
Wow...!!!! Are you ever slow..!!! Better stick to GIC's or the lotto.. Ya tell the CRA they're wrong with their interpretation differences between stocks and property capital losses.. good luck with that..!!!  LMAO..!!
Comment by westcoastlogger on Dec 14, 2023 1:17pm
It applies to all securities. Admit you were wrong when you said it only applies to property. Anyhow I've had enough of arguing with you. Back on the IGNORE pile you go behind the barn with the other pile. Dont fall off that rock.

Viemed will stop trading on the TSX on the 22nd, and continue to trade just on the Nasdaq. People are making a big deal about this. Most brokerages in Canada should be able to trade in the US. Just call them up and ask what to do. This is all panic selling. Tax losses are probably over. It is only a week away..
Comment by Tropicalsun on Dec 13, 2023 7:00pm
LongTerm3 you must really think that a lot of people are quite clueless if you they don't think most shareholders wouldn't know that there is nothing to fear. Panic selling, get real panic about what? My god man wake up and smell the coffee. For as long as you have been in this stock, you know this happens every year at this time right? It's called tax loss selling and it is hardly ...more

Actually the Viemed shares stop trading at the close of business on the 21st.

Yes they can. Just got off the line to RBC in Toronto and they inform me if your invested in Canadian dollars everything will stay the same with quotes and trades in Canadian dollars if you want but you have the option of opening a USD acct of course. Everything will stay the same in RRSPs and TFSAs but if they(heaven forbid) delist from the DAQ and use OTC exchanges you would have to liquidate ...more

"everything will stay the same with quotes and trades in Canadian dollars if you want"... if you leave VMD in cdn account, that's ok but it will be trade in US (because libelled in US money) and the result will be transformed in cdn money (2,5% fee for the exchange)
