RE:QuestionI'm not a lawyer, but would imagine that it would create some kind of base for other infringers re settlement/damages.  The consensus among other investors is that Emil Malak would look to have the company taken over before going to court.  Other tech co's, including infringers may now look at buying the company and taking it over then assuming the legal battle themselves.  This may be cheaper than paying out a settlement or potentially a winning move for that infringer whereby they make a good return by suing their peers for using the technology.  A year or so ago there was a rumor that Carlos Slim was in negotiation with Malak.  He may own a large chunk of shares of VPLM as insurance in case they won... which is what happened!
