Liquidity has nothing to do with 231 millions shares long. It juste means a small amout buy or sell change the price significantly. So if 33% of the volume is shorted the price tend to drop.

all you have to do is put your WELL shares up for sale at a higher price then your brooker can not short sell them. if everyone did the same there would be a good chance the stock would not go lower
